I am what you might call a pregnancy and baby addict. Seriously, I love the whole journey a woman goes through during pregnancy, from the positive test and occasional queasiness to the glorious second trimester and on into the magnificent homestretch. During my own pregnancy, I found that the world doesn't always make it easy to celebrate pregnancy between the abysmal maternity "fashion" choices offered in some stores to the difficulty of finding other expectant moms.
After my daughter was born I decided to be a stay-at-home mom while I completed a degree in business marketing. My husband, a former ballet dancer like myself, was supportive. After graduation I met some women at a meeting for nursing moms. One expectant mom lamented how few places existed that offered maternity clothing. I knew exactly how she was feeling and I exclaimed how great it would be to open a maternity shop, immediately followed by the thought, "I don't have the means to open a shop."
Fast-forward a year, hundreds of conversations with expectant moms later, and after an extensive manufacturer and funding search we arrived at the realization of my maternity shop, Haute Mama Maternity. I know it sounds trite, but this truly has been a labor of love. Building this shop and creating a place for expectant and new moms to come for clothing and conversation has been so amazing.
Opening Haute Mama Maternity allows me to help women, and the families who love them, celebrate life. They come back with their babies, they hang out at the shop.
